About Me

I am starting this blog for an assignment in one of my MLIS courses. The first few posts are actually a part of the assignment for this particular class but I hope to keep up with this blog.  I think that it is a good outlet for an online student, like me, to make valuable connections with their peers.

But about myself… I am a non-traditional student who has decided to return to school to become a youth services librarian, even though I sometimes find myself overwhelmed and wondering why I ever decided to do this!  I will be returning to work after being a (mostly) stay-at-home mom for the past 13 years, raising and sometimes homeschooling three amazing daughters ages 12,14, and 20.  The library is where I envisioned myself starting this new chapter in my life.  My spouse is in the Coast Guard and I have been able to move around our beautiful country for the past 20 years when he relocates for different jobs.  Going to check out the local public libraries is one of the first things that I do when relocating.

I recently watched a very inspirational and engaging video that I will link below.  This video pretty much sums up why I would like to be a librarian.  Hope that you enjoy it as much as I did!
